July 2004 saw the first 24:7 take place in Manchester. Next year's Festival, running from 18 - 25 July, will celebrate 10 years of theatre-making in city centre non-theatre venues.
24:7 is an adjudicated Festival. We only accept submissions of scripts during our script call. The submissions process is managed online, and during the submissions window is accessed via this website. The 2014 submission window will be open from 1 December 2013 – 13 January 2014.
24:7 makes no particular demands on theme or style. All we ask is that submissions are original works, in the English language, never performed before and 40-60 minutes long.
The Festival venues are all non-theatre spaces (bars, nightclubs, conference and function rooms), so our technical facilities are limited and the unique rotating performance times in our schedule mean that productions get just 15 minutes to set up and 15 minutes to clear the stage. You have to make your story and your actors create the atmosphere – not the set or special effects!
There is a £27 fee to submit a script (£30 if you send us your submission on paper), which is used to meet the administrative costs of the process – dealing with applicant enquiries, assigning and distributing scripts to readers and covering their expenses. You may submit as many scripts as you like, but each must be a separate submission and each one is subject to the fee.
