100 Flowers project - Open call

The 100 Flowers project will deliver a new Collection of 100 framed works inspired by flowering plants from the greater Glasgow area, into the new NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s (NHSGGC) New South Glasgow Hospitals (NSGH). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the creation of a new Collection for the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s (NHSGGC) New South Glasgow Hospitals (NSGH). The collection will comprise 100 new works of art inspired by flowers installed in the building when it opens in 2015.
Flowers and fauna, as a key theme for artists over the centuries, provide a way for artists to sensitively explore the concept of cultural identity and issues such as loss, home, belonging, roots, travel, health, ritual, memory, history, and geography. As such they are a relevant motif to explore the context of the new hospitals as well as for the Culture Festival taking place in Glasgow and its invitation to the world to experience and enjoy sporting and cultural excellence in 2014. As part of the 100 Flowers project there is an Open Call to select 30 works to be purchased for the 100 Flowers Collection.
Submission date: 12 midnight 1st April
