Bullseye Glass invites submissions for Emerge 2014, our eighth biennial kiln-glass exhibition for emerging artists. This international juried competition offers prizes as well as inclusion in a full-color exhibition catalog. Emerge 2014 is open to all emerging artists working with Bullseye glass in some kilnforming or kilncasting method. (The Jewelry category also permits torchworking.) For this competition, you are an “emerging artist” if you are in the early to intermediate stage of your career and, at the time of application, your work in glass has not been represented by a commercial gallery at a major international art or design fair (such as Sculpture, Object, Functional Art or SOFA, in the USA).
Academic Awards: To qualify, the entrant must have been enrolled in an accredited, university-level (undergraduate or graduate) art program during part of the 2012-2013 academic years.
Kilncasting Award: Works must be kilncast, using Bullseye billets, frit, or sheet glass.
Jewelry Award: Works must be wearable and may be kilnformed or torchworked.
Design Award: Works must be functional (excluding jewelry).
Newcomer Award: Entrant must have begun working (or taking classes) in kilnformed glass after January 1, 2012.
The application fee is US $35.00, payable by credit card.
All entries must be submitted by 5pm PST, December 6, 2013.
