The Booktown Writers' Annual Short Story Competition 2013

The judge for the competition is Sam Kelly - Head of Creative Writing MA, Edinburgh Napier
Sam Kelly began her career as a literary agent in London, working for A. M. Heath, A. P. Watt and Sheil Land Associates, during which time she launched the careers of over 50 new writers. On moving to Scotland, she worked for The Scotsman Publications as a reviewer and a number of independent publishers as a freelance fiction editor, and mentored several emerging writers through the Scottish Book Trusts’ Mentoring Scheme. In 2009, she designed and launched Edinburgh Napier University’s MA in Creative Writing, a course which takes a uniquely professional approach to the training of aspiring writers. Described by The Times as “A radical departure in Creative Writing”, the MA programme is now in its fourth year.
