North York Moors National Park Authority - artist residency opportunity

The North York Moors National Park Authority is collaborating with Chrysalis Arts to develop and present a series of identical ‘mirror’ exhibitions presenting new work by printmakers from North Yorkshire, Finland, Sweden and Scotland which will open simultaneously at venues in North Yorkshire, Finland, and Sweden in May 2015.
As part of the Connections North project, funding has been secured from Arts Council England to support an artist in residence opportunity for an artist from one of the participating partner regions of Central Finland, West Sweden or the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The aim of the residency is for the artist to produce a small exhibition of work inspired by the landscape, environment, life and colour of the North York Moors National Park which will be presented in conjunction with the Connections North: Mirror Images exhibition in May/June 2015.
The residency will take place between September and November 2014 for one month. The artist will be paid a fee of £3000 (approx 3620 euros) to undertake the residency and produce the completed work for the exhibition, including materials and framing. There is a separate budget to cover the cost of travel, subsistence and accommodation.
The residency is open to painters, printmakers and other fine artists who are interested in producing a body of work inspired by and which interprets the special qualities of the North York Moors National Park (see list below for further details) The residency will be based at the Inspired…by gallery, which is set in an idyllic spot on the banks of the River Esk, near Danby, North Yorkshire. There will be scope for the artist to spend time in other parts of the National Park which is a beautiful landscape of stunning moorland, spectacular coast, ancient woodland and historic sites.
Deadline for Applications: 12 noon on Friday 30th June 2014
