Fashion Cultures is a new strand of the Merchant City Festival taking place in Glasgow from 24th July – 3rd August 2014, in association with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and the retailers of Ingram St. It will take place in and around the retail and entertainment spaces on Ingram Street.
The programme of events will be a celebration of the role that fashion plays within the city of Glasgow and will recognise that fashion isn’t just an object or a retail experience but is a rich economy and culture that impacts upon all sectors of society. It will acknowledge the pleasure that people take in dressing up and going out, as well as the strong cultural ties that exist between fashion, music and art within the city.
As part of this programme Fashion Cultures seeks to commission an artist or artists to devise and deliver a new piece of work. The exact nature of this work is open to the artist but it should engage with themes around the subject of fashion.
The deadline is Friday 23 May 2014 at 12:00.
