One of the prorities in the 'Partnership for Modernisation' between the European Union and Russia is to enhance cooperation in innovation, research and development. In this context ERA.Net RUS Plus will implement two Joint Calls for transnational and scientifically excellent research projects: The first call to open is the one on 'Innovation', a call for S&T projects in the fields of Nanotechnologies/Materials/Production Technologies, Health, Environment/Climate Change, and Social Sciences/Humanities will follow. The major objective of ERA.Net RUS Plus is to deepen the transnational collaboration between EU MS/AC and Russia and to reduce the fragmentation of research programmes along national funding lines. This joint undertaking will create synergies and strengthen the cooperation among the consortium members. Other principal goals of ERA.Net RUS Plus are to further develop the instrumental setting for joint funding activities and thus to provide a solid basis for a joint programmatic approach to be pursued in the near future. This programmatic approach will assure the desired and necessary sustainability of the cooperation between EU MS/AC and Russia and a lasting impact. The goal of the call is to create a long-term research collaboration in the field of innovation between EU Member States/Associated Countries and Russia. Innovative research collaboration of a high standard between teams from EU Member States and/or Associated Countries and Russia will be supported through an open competition. By innovation projects are meant joint R&D projects designed to lead to innovative products, services or processes of significant econo-mic and/or societal value. Compared to the rather advanced cooperation between the EU and Russia in the field of basic research, the coop-eration in the field of innovation still bears a lot of potential to be exploited. Against this background this joint activity shall also address applied research and technology development implemented by small sized innovative research performing enterprises in Russia in partnership with universities and/or non-university public or private research performing institutions/companies from EU.
Call closes: 28 May 2014, 17.00 CET (19.00 Moscow Time).
