French National Jazz Orchestra: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FROM MUSICIANS

Since its foundation in 1986 the "Orchestre National de Jazz" [also known as the ONJ or French National Jazz Orchestra] has played a considerable role in the recognition of jazz in cultural and institutional circles, through nine exciting artistic adventures in music conducted by the Orchestra's successive directors. This prestigious Orchestra, unique in France, has featured and accompanied several generations of composers and soloists whilst irrigating a broad sector of jazz practice at a national level. Internationally, the Orchestra has become, and will remain, a strong symbol.
The new vocations of AJON ["Association pour le Jazz en Orchestre National", the organization charged with the administration of the ONJ], today lead to the reinforcement of its initial aims: amongst others, favouring original works, the development of young artists' careers, transmitting skills and increasing public awareness of jazz.
In the context of the new mandate (2014-2017) of Artistic Director Olivier Benoit, for the above reason AJON is recruiting 9 professional musicians (male or female).
Closing date for applications: 31st July 2013.
