Scotland. An opportunity for emerging Scottish illustrators.- children books

Picture Hooks was set up to encourage emerging Scottish illustrators. The scheme is funded by Creative Scotland. The mentoring scheme is set up to provide an opportunity for development under the guidance of established professional illustrators. Five participants and five mentors are carefully paired and worked together for a year. During the course of the year, each illustrator will be able to focus step-by-step on their work, step out of their comfort zone and trying new techniques and methods of working. They will be able to concentrate on particular aspects of illustration for picture books such as characterization, emotion and continuity. At the end of the year, their work will be displayed in an exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery.
In order to apply for the mentoring scheme, illustrators must qualify for our entrance requirements:
• Applicants must have been born, educated or live in Scotland
• Applicants must have an art or design degree or qualification (or be graduating in summer 2014)
• Illustrators might already be published or design cards and stationery
• The scheme is not open to continuing students.

Deadline 1st September 2014
There is a £5 entry fee.
