Timespan: Paradigm North – Opportunities for Artists

As part of Paradigm North Timespan is offering exhibition opportunities and a development residency for national and international artists seeking new ways of working in remote communities in the Far North of Scotland and beyond. On all levels, our work is committed to the remote place we live in, its people and its history. Its unique qualities are an inspiration for people who we invite to work with us. We welcome applications from artists, creative practitioners and researchers. We work in interdisciplinary formats and support artistic diversity and innovative methods. Applicants are welcome to consider a proposal for a joint residency and exhibition.

 

Residency
An invitation to stay in a vibrant village on the shores of the Northern Sea surrounded by empty lands that were once inhabited for thousands of years. We provide curatorial support, travel, a budget for materials and accommodation in our artist’s flat attached to Timespan. Additionally, we pay a monthly fee of £1000.

Exhibition

An exhibition in Sutherland’s only public art gallery dedicated to contemporary work. Timespan’s Gallery is a flexible space with a new lighting system and bay window overlooking the Strath and the River Helmsdale. We support the installation with technical assistance, curatorial guidance; we offer travel, marketing, and a fee of of £1000. Exhibition periods: Feb – March 2015, April – May 2015
