Medienbotschafter China – Deutschland is a journalist exchange program of the Robert Bosch Stiftung in cooperation with the International Media Center and Tsinghua University in Beijing. It aims at winning over journalists for the task of fostering international understanding between China and Germany. In addition the program promotes a global democratic dialogue and targets to strengthen independent quality reporting. Sixteen fellowships are awarded annually to Chinese and German journalists. Journalists from China are invited to take part in a three month work and study stay in Germany, while the German fellows are sent to China for the duration of also three months to do the same. All fellows receive a monthly stipend of 1.350 Euros. The travel costs between China and Germany are also covered by the program. The Chinese fellows receive a one month training course at the International Media Center (IMC) – powered by the Chair in Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Hamburg.
