The Tertis International Viola Competition is one of the most prestigious viola events in the world and is dedicated to the legacy of the great British 20th century viola virtuoso, Lionel Tertis (1876-1975). It has been held every three years in Port Erin on the Isle of Man since 1980. This is also a Festival for the Viola and dedicated to celebrating the viola, introducing outstanding works and new works for the Viola, and promoting young artists.Winners of the Competition will be engaged to appear at a major London venue in the UK. During the competition period, public concerts and open master classes for young violists will be held to show various charms and possibilities of the viola. Players of all nationalities are invited to participate and for those who don‟t wish to compete, the Workshop offers ensemble classes, recitals, lectures and tuition from the world*s experts. The completed competition application package must be received by the Secretariat between 4th September and 2nd October 2015.
