Environmental Art Festival Scotland 2013: Call for Proposals

EAFS aims to build on Dumfries and Galloway’s unique environmental art pedigree and hold an inaugural Environmental Art Festival Scotland that will celebrate the region’s connections with the subject and explore its landscape identity. Events will take place from June to October and the core week of activity will be the first weekend of September.

1. Open Call for Ideas
We are looking for ideas connected to ideas of land, sustainability, energy, coast, rural living, Biosphere, Dark Skies, climate change, Ecosystem Services, transport etc – these could be huge ideas on a global scale or something barely visible.
We are open to submissions from individuals, groups or interdisciplinary teams from all walks of life.

2. EAFS Commissions
We are seeking proposals for temporary installations for the Environmental Art Festival. The installations should be connected to the festival theme of “energy and the land” and should be high quality proposals at the cutting edge of contemporary practice in Environmental Art. Proposals for EAFS commissions can be located anywhere in the region. The installation should take place during the four day festival over 30 August 2 September 2013 although the installation may be open to the public for a longer period than the duration of the festival if the artist chooses. The total budget for each installation is £5000.

3. Venues, Places, Organisations
If you have a venue, a place (eg historical or scientific interest site) or an organisation that is interested in being part of EAFS then we want to hear from you. It maybe that you have an existing or planned activity that would fit within the themes of EAFS – or that you are interested in this area of work and see involvement in EAFS as a means of taking your idea forward.

The deadline is Friday 22 March 2013 at 23:00
