BBC Radio Wales - BBC Radio Cymru - Arts Council of Wales: Horizons projects

Following on from the success of last year’s Horizons project, set-up to support and encourage new Welsh musical talent BBC Cymru Wales and the Arts Council of Wales are looking for 12 new artists to support over the coming year. They’ll be offered a platform at events across Wales and through BBC Wales’ national radio services - BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio Wales.
The scheme will showcase the most exciting unsigned acts with the potential to make a real breakthrough in Wales and beyond.
Musicians and bands who want to be considered should send in a recording of their original work, and fill in a form online. Horizons acts will be selected via a panel of music industry and radio music experts. For full details visit bbc.co.uk/horizons.
The Horizons acts of 2015 will benefit from:

• specially programmed BBC Radio events, sessions and playlists
• direct contact with a BBC producer overseeing the project
• BBC Maida Vale recording session (the BBC’s legendary London recording studios since 1946)
• promotional tools, including a produced video and a professional photo-shoot
• bespoke mentoring via tailored courses
• national and international musical opportunities
• opportunities to play BBC Cymru Wales events through the year
• nominations through BBC Introducing to play at major events across the UK

The closing date for receiving applications is 9 February, 2015.
The final 12 successful bands will be announced from 6 April 2015 on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru.

Horizons is a two-year partnership between BBC Cymru Wales and the Arts Council of Wales to develop new music talent and give it a platform to reach audiences.
